Richard Tharp was taugh quiltmaking at a very early age. He remembers cutting pieces for his grandmother and aunts. He later went on to work in the garment industry where his tenure for a quilt designer in Louisville, Kentucky exposed him to many textiles and designs. The first American Quilter's Society Exhibition in Paducah, Kentucky finalized his direction into the world of art quilts and textile designs. Ten of Richard's quilt designs were selected for the top 100 designs in the AccuQuilt 2013 Barn Quilt Designer Contest.
Richard has worked in sales and education in the sewing industry, with extensive training at BERNINA, Babylock, Janome, and Pfaff.
